Welcome!

Please note: These Notes are updated periodically. Dates do not reflect updates.

Steve’s Notes on Congressional Politics are intended for people who seek more than the usual news coverage of Congress, for students who want to supplement their course readings, and for college instructors looking for an alternative or supplement to a textbook. Never miss a new Note or an update by subscribing. It is free.

I have deliberately chosen a blog format. The prose is somewhat more casual and sometimes in need of editing. In order to keep Notes short and readable, only a few citations to academic studies and journalistic accounts are provided, but in many cases I have citations that can lead a reader to original or additional sources.

If you are an instructor using Notes for a course, feel free to inquire about an ancillary or two that I can provide for a course in congressional politics or American government.

I like hearing from you. Please send corrections and suggestions. I cannot promise to respond, but I read your comments.
